CAREER
Born in Tournai (Hainaut, Belgium) in 1974,
Isabelle Detournay lives in Brussels. Two cities where she currently teaches photography (ARBA-ESA, ACT).
In the 1990s, while working as a social worker, she began studying photography at ENSAV-La Cambre in Brussels. As a photographer, she focuses on societal issues, both in Belgium and abroad (notably in the USA and India).
Winner of the National Photography Open Prize (Museum of Photography in Charleroi) in 2000, Young Artists Prize from the Parliament of the French-speaking Community in 2007, she has exhibited at MAMAC – Liège, at Botanique, at the Wallonia-Brussels Centre (Paris), as well as in many marginal yet equally charming venues...
Her book on majorettes was published in 2008 by Husson Editions.
